Virginia Ann Witherspoon died peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2011.Memorial service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Couts Memorial United Methodist Church, 802 North Elm St., Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Couts Memorial United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.The daughter of Ruby and Orville Milburn, she was born in Parker County on July 8, 1929, and was a graduate of Weatherford High School, Weatherford College and North Texas State University, from which she received her master's degree in education.Ann enjoyed 50 years of marriage to William O. "Bill" Witherspoon, which was blessed by four sons - Mike (Debbie), Mark (Brenda), Tommy and John. Bill and John preceded her in death. She taught school for eight years in Jacksboro and worked 21 years in Weatherford as a teacher, coordinator and counselor. She helped design and implement the WISD Elementary Guidance and Counseling Program in four schools.As a talented pianist and organist, she gave generously of her time to play for many church worship services, weddings and funerals. Ann loved her church, family and friends and enjoyed music and reading. She was a member of Couts Memorial United Methodist Church, Parker County Retired Teachers and a former member of Alpha Delta Kappa and Beta Sigma Phi.Survivors: In addition to her three sons and daughters-in-law, she is survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Beth Hamilton, of Weatherford; brother, Albert Milburn, of Arlington; and many nieces and nephews.
