Clarence Leon Raub

d. May 13, 2011

Clarence L. Raub, 85, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011. Funeral: 10 a.m., Wednesday at North Side Baptist Church. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley. Visitation: 8 am to 4 pm Tuesday at White's Funeral Home. He was born October 11, 1925 in Olney, Texas to John and Minnie Raub. His brothers and sisters included Ned, Fred, Ted, Myrtle, Harry, Jackie, and Jerry, all of whom preceded him in death. Clarence grew up and graduated high school in Wichita Falls, enlisting in the Navy in WWII. As a Navy cadet he was in training in Warrensburg, MO when he met Janie, his future wife, and began a love affair that lasted over 65 years. After settling in Weatherford in 1954 Clarence and Janie joined North Side Baptist Church and were active members for 56 years. Clarence was involved in every aspect of the church from singing in the choir to major building projects. He lived his life according to the Christian ideals he believed, sharing his talents, energy, and faith with all those he met. Clarence retired from General Dynamics (Lockheed Martin) in 1982 after 27 years. He spent many years enjoying his hobbies including camping (he was a charter member of the Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer Club), and motorcycle riding. These hobbies took him, his wife, and friends and family to the far corners of several countries on many wonderful adventures. His resourcefulness and knowledge made him the person to call, whether it was a broken arm, a broken RV, or a house repair. An easy-going and social person, Clarence could always be counted on by family, friends, or strangers. He is survived by wife, Janie Raub; daughter, Dianne Haddock and husband Clovis; son David and wife Carol; grandchildren, Sena Mathues, Eric Raub, and Erin Lobdell; and great grandchildren Hayley, Ally, and Nate.
