Weatherford -- Evelyn May Ragle passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the age of 86. Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation: 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, if desired, a memorial donation may be made to the American Heart Association. Evelyn was born in Dallas to Floyd and Maggie Bennett. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1942 and from North Texas State Teachers College in 1946. While visiting a veteran's hospital with sorority sisters, she met James H. Ragle, a patient, and they were married in Dallas on Oct. 1, 1949. They moved to Weatherford in 1958 and raised four children there. Evelyn lived in Weatherford until 2008. After working for Texas Utilities for 15 years, she retired in 1990. She was a member of South Side Baptist Church, active in the Parker County Senior Center and was a hospital volunteer with over 1000 hours of service. She loved to travel, play games, go for boat rides at the lake and laugh. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, James Bennett. She is survived by her children, Jane Hurst and husband, Jim, Bill Ragle and wife, LuAnn, Jimmie Schellinger and husband, Ed, and Wes Ragle and wife, Millie; grandchildren, Teresa Ragle, Jonathan Ragle, Brian Hurst, Angie Lynch and husband, Chris, Zach Ragle and Becca Ragle; step-grandchildren, Sarah Schellinger and Jessica Campbell and husband, Peter; great-grandson, Caleb Lynch; step-great-grandson, Jed Campbell; and many extended family members.
