C.W. "William" Ward passed away Monday, June 27, 2011. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Springtown, 500 N. Main St. Interment: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at White's Funeral Home. C.W. was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Springtown to Clarence L. and Iola Williams Ward. He was a lifelong resident of Springtown. C.W. was a home-spun humorist, affectionately known as "Poppy." He was the original owner of Ward Welding and Supply. He was one of the first members of the Springtown Fire Department. C.W. was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Hazel. Survivors: Daughters, Judy Phillips of Fort Worth and Patti Smith and husband Steve of Kennedale; son, David Ward of Springtown; grandchildren, Michelle, Jacquelyn, Brett, Kelsey and Derek; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
