James Elmer Spencer, 76, a longtime resident of Azle, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 at his residence. Funeral: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, at the First United Methodist Church of Azle. Interment: Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at White's Azle Funeral Home. James was born Jan. 24, 1935, to the late Mary and Elmer Spencer in Hubbard. He attended a year of Radio and Television school at Draughuns School in Dallas and the Cleveland Institute of Electronics for two years. James worked for Sears and Roebuck in Dallas as a clerk for five years and retired Nov. 1, 1993 from Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth after 35 years of service as an electrical engineer. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. James was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Azle and a member of the Becomers Sunday School class. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers on television. James was preceded in death by his parents.
