Temple -- Ernest Walker Duncan, 92, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011, at the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans' Home in Temple. Graveside Service: 10 a.m. Saturday in Perrin Memorial Garden. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 101 N.E. 4th Avenue, Mineral Wells. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the Duncan family suggests contributions in Ernest's memory to the American Diabetes Association, 2315 North Main Street, Suite 320, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Ernest was born March 31, 1919, in Santo. A W.W.II veteran, Ernest served in North Africa from 1942-1945 as an Army medic. He was a long time resident of Mineral Wells and Perrin and he was also a member of First Baptist Church of Perrin for many years where he and Eva Lou tended the nursery for several years. Ernest was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Eva Lou Duncan; parents, Wilson Key and Virgie Duncan; seven brothers; and three sisters. Survivors: Children, Brenda Martin of McKinney, Monte Duncan and wife, Janet, of Beaverton, Ore.; grandchildren, Amy Martin McElya and husband, Keith, of Dallas, Bret Nolan Martin of Mineral Wells, Jeffrey Duncan and Allison Duncan of Beaverton, Ore.; and six wonderful great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Hopson of Bowie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
