Norma Dean Baxter Poland, 87, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011. Please note as you read this notice that "all is well with my soul." I have gone home to be with the Lord, where I have joined my husband of twenty-three years, James Ross Poland, and my parents. Per my request, a simple graveside service for family will be held 10 a.m., Friday at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Born to Vesta and Lloyd Baxter on November 4, 1923, in Norborne, Missouri, where James and I met. We married in 1946 and had three wonderful children; James Lloyd, Patricia Lynn, and Richard Allen. Family has always been my priority and my pride and joy. Our family moved from Missouri to Richland Hills, Texas in 1955. Throughout the years of my career as a mother and housewife, I became an avid bridge player. After my husband passed in 1969, I spent several years as a real estate broker, and then a few years working in a car insurance office. During my golden years, I focused on details of world events and politics via both radio and television. And, believe me, if I didn't know about an event, it didn't happen...so my offspring often chided me. I am leaving behind my oldest son and his wife, James and Setsuko Poland of Grass Valley, Calif.; my daughter and her husband, Patricia and Steve Reeder of Weatherford, Texas, along with their children, James Robert Hettinger and Haley Lynn Randolph; my "baby" and his wife, Rick and Gayle Poland of Longview, Texas, and their children, Bryan Richard Poland, Amanda Gayle Poland, Scott Michael Poland, and Christopher Greg Poland and his son Tyler Richard Poland, also my sister and her husband, Lois and Dick Stripe of Sherman, Texas, along with two nieces and a nephew.
