ALEDO -- Teresa Lynn Aimone Blackburn, 54, died peacefully in her home in Aledo on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011. Memorial Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the family suggests contributions to the Parker County Library in Weatherford. The Library Gardens was one of Teresa's pet projects. As much as Teresa loved flowers, we know she is now surrounded by more beautiful flowers than ever found on earth. Teresa Lynn Aimone Blackburn was born on Sept. 4, 1956, in Pekin, Ill., to Dr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Aimone. She married Claude Blackburn in 1993 at the Apostles Episcopal Church in Coppell. Teresa attended Pekin Grade School and High School, was a member of the National Honor Society and Pekin Melody Maids, and participated in the Youth Group at St. John's Lutheran Church. After graduation she attended Marycrest College and studied nursing. After one year, she transferred to Northern Michigan University where she graduated with a degree in Botany and Horticulture. After graduation she attended DuPage Horticultural School in North Chicago to increase her knowledge of horticulture. Upon graduation, she became a DuPage Horticultural School faculty member. Teresa spent her entire working career in the greenhouse industry. She was first employed by the Ball Seed Co. in North Chicago as a writer for Grower Talks, a professional magazine for the industry. She ultimately became the editor of both Grower Talks and Floriculture International Magazine. This required extensive travel covering flower shows in many countries. She lectured at many of these shows, conventions, and is footnoted in many textbooks utilized in university botany programs. Later she was hired by the marketing department of Sluis and Groot Seed Co. in Enkhuizen, Holland where she promoted their product throughout Europe and the United States. The final aspect of her career was spent in Texas promoting products of the Henry F Michell Company of King of Prussia, Pa. Teresa was very active in the Parker County Master Gardeners for many years doing volunteer work at county libraries, city halls, community centers, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Mineral Wells. Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Joseph Aimone, on March 31, 2011. Survivors: Her husband, Claude Blackburn; mother JoAnn Aimone; brother, Joseph Aimone II; nephew, Joseph A.
