Claudia Thompson Mundy, 69, a long time resident of the Springtown area, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, surrounded by family at her home in Veal Station. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 401 North Main Street, Springtown. Claudia DeFayne Thompson was born Jan. 21, 1942, in Portsmouth, Va., daughter of the late Albert S. and Juanita McCarley Thompson. She married Bobby Mundy in Oklahoma on Feb. 1, 1958, and they began their life together. Claudia worked from her home as a seamstress and her hobbies included gardening and tending to her various animals. She will be remembered for her hearty laugh and wisdom. Claudia would say that you could move the mountain you stood on. Claudia was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Mundy Jr., on April 26, 2010; her parents; and brother, Albert S. Thompson Jr. Survivors: Husband, Bobby Mundy Sr. of Veal Station; daughter, Vanita King and husband, David, of Veal Station; grandchildren, Cassie, Buddy, Bobbie Jo, and Clinton; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends.
