FORT WORTH -- Ronald Blankenship, 79, a loving and supportive father and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery. Ronnie's life will be celebrated afterwards in Fort Worth at Red Dragon, 3500 Alta Mere Drive, and then at Sam's Bulldog Saloon, 3512 Alta Mere Drive. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Blankenship family suggests contributions in Ronnie's memory to the Salvation Army, 5554 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75235. Ronald Fred Blankenship was born Dec. 6, 1932, in Fort Worth, the only child of the late Bowen and Ruby Blankenship. He was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth and graduated from Arlington Heights High School. Ronnie loved real estate and the stock market and made his career in real estate. Football and the beach were also two of Ronnie's passions in addition to farming and ranching in Montana and Minnesota, where he had ranches. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; and loving companion, Edris "Sam" Cogburn, in 2009. Survivors: Daughter, Kathy Blankenship Buckley of Dallas; son, Beau Blankenship and wife, Jeannine, of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Aidan Lane Buckley and Hannah Blythe Buckley of Dallas and Ryan Blankenship of Anchorage, Alaska; dear, loving, trusted friend, Helen Cerventes and husband, Dan, of Fort Worth; and their children, Daniel, Immalynn "MM" and EJ; and a host of loving family and friends.
