Donald "Duck" Ray Shirley

BROCK -- Donald Ray "Duck" Shirley, 73, died on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015. Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brock Baptist Church, 2111 FM 1189, Brock. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan. Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed to Brock Baptist Church, Sports Recreation Center, 2111 FM 1189, Brock, TX 76087. Donald was born on March 26, 1941 in Brock, son of N. L. (Lynn) and Oma Shirley. He graduated from Brock High School in 1959 and went to work for Southern Airways where he worked until it closed in 1970. Donald became a life long farmer, harvesting watermelon and cantaloupes, baling hay and digging coastal sprigs. He had retired and enjoyed visiting his many friends at his office (the barn). Donald was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Wife of 54 years, Linda Hunt Shirley; daughters, Donna Cox and husband, John, of Cypress, Dianna Taylor and husband, Todd, of Brock; two granddaughters, Cayla Smith and husband, Taylor, of College Station and Johonna Mylius and husband, Shane, of Huntsville; two grandsons, Tristen and Takota Taylor of Brock; one great-granddaughter, Aurora Jo Smith; one sister, Janice Collins and husband, Kenneth, of Dennis; and one niece, Mendy Golightly and husband, Danny, of Brock.
