Thomas Lucas, Sr.

WATAUGA -- Thomas "Sarge" Lucas, Sr., 85, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015. Graveside Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens of the Valley, 5600 Mineral Wells Hwy., Weatherford. Visitation: 1 - 2 p.m. Tuesday at the cemetery. Thomas was born November 5, 1929 to Steve and Helen Woodard Lucas in Canonsburg, Penn. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force until his retirement in 1970. He moved with his family to Medina where he worked at the Medina Children's Home. In 1971 they moved to Fort Worth where he attended Brown Trail Church of Christ School of Preaching and started his missionary work in 1973. He continued that work until his retirement in 2005 and then moved back to Texas where he lived out the remainder of his days. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Lena in 1996; his parents; and daughter, Helen Combs. Survivors: Sons, Steve Lucas and his wife, Paula and Thomas Lucas, Jr. and wife, Kathryn; daughter, Barbara McAdams; grandchildren, Amanda, Sean, Justin, Becky, Meghan, Michael, Kelcy and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Arwin, McKena and MacKenzie; sister, Victoria; brother, Peter Lucas; and a host of loving family members and friends.
