Wanda was born October 27, 1927 in Paducah, daughter of Lawrence and Gertrude Grace Moore. She graduated from Paducah High School and moved to attend and graduated from a Business School in Fort Worth. Wanda married Curtis Carpenter in 1950, and they had many happy years together raising their family. They settled in Weatherford, a town she would call home for the next 65 years.
Wanda worked for Mutual Building and Loan Association for 42 years, first as a loan officer and retiring as Vice President. When she retired, she continued to make friends through her involvement in her church. She loved square dancing, line dancing, bridge, most recently bingo, and many other activities to keep her mind sharp and her feet moving. Some days you could even find her sitting on a bench at the local grocery store, just to say "Hi" to the people. To put it mildly, she loved people. Most importantly of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Wanda was a sharp dressed woman, who kept her hair appointment every week. To Wanda, it didn't matter how you felt, it only mattered how you looked, and if you looked good, the rest of the world wouldn't know any better. A little secret: her jet black hair was natural, she never let an ounce of hair dye get near her locks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis; her parents; her sister, Joyce Moore Hamilton; her brother-in-law, Kenneth "Poss" Hamilton; and her son-in-law, Rodney L. Coffey.
Survivors: Children, Carla Carpenter Coffey of Weatherford, Larry and Denise Carpenter of Willow Park and Scott and Sonya Carpenter of San Antonio; grandchildren, Curt and Mandi Coffey, of Rockwall, Cara Coffey of San Antonio, Caitlan Coffey of Weatherford, Colt and Shannon Bearden of Arlington, Ryan and Elayne Carpenter of Weatherford and Cassie and Mikaela Carpenter of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Todd and Kate Jolley of Rockwall, Emma and Maya Coffey of Rockwall, and Bryson Carpenter of Weatherford; niece, Kena Hamilton; nephew, Kevin Hamilton; and many other loving family members and friends.
