SANTO -- Dean Gilland, 85, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Santo, 135 W. Palo Pinto St., Santo. Interment: Landreth Cemetery, Palo Pinto County. Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 101 N. E. 4th Ave., Mineral Wells. Dean was born September 6, 1929 to Horace Hopkins Miller and Ima Clark Miller in eastern Palo Pinto County. Dean graduated from Millsap High School in 1946 and attended Tarleton State College. She graduated from North Texas State University in 1964. Dean taught school at Progress, Santo and Strawn for over 30 years, following in the footsteps of her grandfather, John M. Miller and aunt, Edith Wheeler. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Santo and the Busy Beavers Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Peggy Miller Lamb. Dean is survived by: Brother, Theo Miller and wife, Gail, of Cedar Park; sons, Ed Gilland and wife, Darlene, of Cedar Park, Larry Gilland and wife, Elaine, of Willow Park and Steve Gilland and wife, Tina, of Bowie; grandchildren, Spencer Gilland and wife, Angela, Suzanna Hull and husband, Matt, Lindsay Hubbell and husband, Adam, Tessa Widmer and husband, Gabe, and Lauren Gilland; and five great-granddaughters.
