Nell Lindsey Kemp passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015 in Bedford.
Mother was born May 17, 1913 in Calico Rock, AR to the late Willie and Harold F. Heasley. Her early years were spent in Byers, TX, where she finished high school. During that eventful senior year, she attracted the attention of a handsome young cowboy who frequented her mother's caf?. Nell and John (Glen Dalton) Lindsey were married in 1933. John later told the story that he wore out the elbows in his shirt sleeves, leaning on the caf? counter, staring at Sweet Nell as she waited on the customers.
Daddy passed away April 28, 1974, he and Nell having lived most of their married life in Wichita Falls and later purchasing acreage near Vinita, OK. Whether rodeoing with John, cooking for a bunch of hungry ranch hands, keeping house, or raising children, Mother was a champion. In short, our mother was simply the best. We are extremely blessed that she continued after her earthly chores were done, even though she was eager to see Jesus, to stay with us until the age of 102. A woman of great integrity, mercy for her fellow man, and unadorned love of God and His Truth, Mother is now with His angels.
Nell is also preceded in death by her second husband, Lilburn "Bud" Kemp of Clarksville. The couple lived there for a number of years.
Nell is survived by: her children, Kay McGrann of Bedford and Linda Jo Lajara and spouse, David; nine grandchildren and their spouses; fourteen great grandchildren and their spouses; six great-great grandchildren; and nephews, James D. Allen and Ricci L. Allen and spouse, Beverly of San Angelo and their children.
Her family would like to thank the incredible staff at LaDora Nursing in Bedford for their loving care during Mother's last few years, especially Tosha, Elizabeth, Corrine, and Jo.
