Betty Lou Gilbert

WEATHERFORD -- Betty Lou Miles Bosley Gilbert, a.k.a. "Nanny," died at the age of 77 in Fort Worth, Texas on June 7, 2015. Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford, 76086. Interment: Brock Cemetery, Brock Texas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home. She was born the fifth of nine girls to George and Maudy Pearl Miles on December 18, 1937 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was raised by her mother and stepfather when her mother was remarried to Andy Higginbotham. She married Robert Russell Bosley on January 9, 1953. They had three children, Robert, Felinda and Renee and they were raised in Azle and Weatherford, Texas. Nanny began her years with the Campbell Memorial Hospital, (now Weatherford Regional Hospital) in 1972, and worked her way up to leading the kitchen. She would go in early to prepare the kitchen for the day and stay late cleaning up so the other staff could go home to their families. She retired from there in 1994. She took great pride in serving others and taught her children and grandchildren to do the same. After her husband, Robert, died in 1990, she met and married Billy Almouth Gilbert on March 31, 1993. They spent 25 happy years together and he cherished her every day. She was grateful for the years she spent with Bill and it was the happiest time of her life. She was preceded in death by three infant sisters; her parents, George Miles and Pearl and Andy Higginbotham; sisters, Frances Beaver, Marjorie Norsworthy, Georgie Shorts and Ruth Eason; first husband, Robert Russell Bosley; and great-grandson, Kyle Bosley. Survivors: She is survived by her husband, Billy Almouth Gilbert; sister, Tommie Jean Hart and husband, Ed, of Lake Worth; children, Robert "Bob" Russell Bosley, Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Weatherford, Felinda Marlene Driver of Weatherford, Renee Lamb and husband, Randy, of Watauga, Kerry Gilbert Glenn of Millsap, Chris Gilbert and wife, Ann, of Aledo, and also former son-in-law, Bert Cannon of Euless; grandchildren, Natalie Porter and husband, Brian, of Burleson, Brandon Mayberry and wife, Andra, of Hico, Cristy Bosley of Weatherford, Amber Blasingime of Waverley, Melissa Cannon and husband, Brent Matlock, of Weatherford, Jennifer Cannon of Denton, Robert Russell Bosley III of Weatherford, Cody Cannon of Bedford, Paige Harrison and husband, Derek, of Fort Worth, Holly Gilbert of Aledo, Samantha Hester of Weatherford, and Dillon Glenn of Millsap; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Derian Porter, Gracie and Madelyn Mayberry, Breann, Sanisha and Allison Bosley , Austin and Gavin Blasingime, Chloe Shackelford and Alanah Matlock, and Robert Russell Bosley, IV; and many extended family members and friends.
