WEATHERFORD -- Thomas Colwell Niederauer, 72, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015.
Memorial service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Weatherford.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society of North Texas or The Aggie Scholarship Fund.
Thomas was born February 19, 1943 in San Angelo. He graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Architecture. He went on to get his Master's Degree in Urban Design at University of North Texas. He worked in Dallas and Midlothian as a Zoning and Planning Director and wrote the sign ordinance for the City of Dallas. He was the City Planner in Colleyville. He was on the board of the Historic Preservation League. He was also involved in Scenic Texas. He was an independent consultant. He loved to collect coins. He enjoyed traveling and getting together with his family for parties and cookouts. He was a natural storyteller and jokester.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Carl John Jr. and Mildred Melisa Niederauer; and his brother, Carl John Niederauer III.
Survivors: Wife, Melissa Niederauer; children, Melanie LaVelle and husband, Brent, and Todd Niederauer and wife, Kimberly; step-children, Matt McKay and Virginia McKay; grandchildren, Trevor, Dylan, Katie, Stella, Lucinda, Azlee, and Mia; and former wife, Jo McDaniel.
