B. J. Hart
Billie Jean Hart, 88, of Hudson Oaks, Texas stepped from this life into heaven July 22, 2015 at his home.
B. J. was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to William Samuel Hart and Winnie Fay Hart nee Reynolds on June 3, 1927. He graduated from high school in Iraan, Texas in 1944. After studies at Texas Tech University, he enlisted in the US Navy. He married Dortha Lee Ritchie in 1949. B.J. retired from Chevron Pipeline Company serving as safety and environmentalist after 39 years.
B. J. was a man of beliefs and principles. His life was a walk of integrity and honesty and a loyal servant to his Lord. His devotion to further the work of Baptists manifested itself in his commitment to building needed facilities for church organizations. He was involved in the birth of a church builders group originating in Snyder. No matter where he moved, B. J. mentored this commitment bringing others into the fold of service. He had a hand in building over 30 sanctuaries and many more facilities necessary in church work. Hammer in hand, smile on his face, B. J. was the epitome of “Go into all the world…” But as we all know, the building of a church is merely the housing of God's people. And B. J. knew that all too well. His service as deacon and deacon emeritus for his church gave him opportunity to organize and facilitate support for each pastor in his care.
B.J. was a very big man though small in stature and quiet of voice. His example was a manual for his family to guide their lives. B. J. is survived by his wife Dot, daughters: Debra (Phil) Albrecht of Grand Prairie, Marcia Hart of Crowley, TX, and Sherri (Jimmy) Neff of Plainview, TX; four grandchildren and 6 great grandsons.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Community Hospice for their incredible support in his final days.
Memorial service will be held at Lakeshore Drive Baptist Church on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10:00 am with Dr. Martin Knox officiating.
