Donald Wayne Griffies

WEATHERFORD -- Donald W. Griffies, 71, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley, Weatherford. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of other remembrances, donations in Don's memory may be made to The American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, any wildlife organization, or a charity of choice. Don was born June 19, 1944 in Dallas to Frank S. and Mary Louise Griffies. His family moved to Houston when he was seven years old and then he settled in Weatherford in 1996. Don attended Texas Tech University and was a member of the ROTC program there. He completed his degree in Sales and Marketing at the University of Houston. Don spent more than 40 years in the oil and gas industry. He was a loving husband to his "Darlin Sharron". Don was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Loving wife, Sharron Griffies; children, Kimberly Thomas and husband, Mark, Daniel Griffies, and Kelley Lawrence and husband, Allen; grandchildren, Victoria Boyles and husband, Michael, Matthew Thomas, Alexandria Lawrence, Gabriel Lawrence; great-grandchild, Kaylee Boyles; sister, Sandy Poole; several nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.
