WEATHERFORD -- Edith Mitchell Coffey, 96, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2015.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Interment: Five Mile Cemetery, 3727 W. Kiest Blvd., Dallas.
Visitation: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at White's.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pythian Home.
Edith was born May 6, 1919 in La Fette, Texas and raised in Gilmer on the family farm. Raised to never shun hard work, upon graduation from high school, she relocated to Dallas to get her first job working for North American during the war. This is where she met the love of her life, Joe Coffey. They lived and raised their family in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas. After the passing of her husband and son, Edith spent many years working for Goodies by Goodman in Dallas. Eventually, Edith moved to Weatherford to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law and great-grandson, where she became very involved in their interests.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Smith Mitchell and Minnie Belle Newsome Mitchell; brother, L. S. Mitchell; husband, Joe Coffey; son, Mike Coffey; and daughter, Rebecca Coffey Crouch.
Survivors: Sister, Marie Mitchell Johnson, of Galveston; nephews, David Boyd and wife, Carolyn, of Galveston, Robert Dedinas, Andy Dedinas and Daniel Dedinas; nieces, Lucy Ann Hopkins and husband, Jerry, of East Texas and Stacy Dedinas and husband, Steve; son-in-law, Roger Crouch and wife, Pam, of Peaster; great-grandson, Tristan Grecu of Arlington, granddaughter, Alesha Grecu.
