WEATHERFORD -- Barbara Jones Ryle, 82, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in Weatherford, following by 10 days her beloved husband of 53 years, Rev. Fred A. Ryle.
Graveside service: Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford
Barbara Ryle was born July 17, 1933 in the San Fernando Valley of California to Elmer and Mary Lydia Jones and into a family of Presbyterian ministers. She graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles and taught elementary school in California. In 1962, she married Fred A. Ryle, Jr., whom she had met at church camp, and began life as the wife of a Presbyterian minister.
In 1971 the Ryles moved to Weatherford where Rev. Ryle became Pastor at Grace First Presbyterian Church, a ministry in which Barbara participated actively for 28 years. She was a vibrant combination of support and independence, always supporting her husband, the church and its activities, especially in work with children, but also willing to express her own opinions in a quiet but forceful way. She worked for several years as a substitute teacher and Aide in Special Education for WISD and later was an active volunteer in the HOSTS program at Curtis Elementary. She also served on the City of Weatherford Park Board. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and to the Grace First Prayer Shawl ministry. After retirement, she and Fred enjoyed a trip to the Holy Land and many trips to visit family.
Survivors: son, Jonathan and his wife, Christi; son, Christopher and his wife, Dawn; and grandchildren, Mica, Bryce, Colt, Pacer and Titan; and brother, Clarke Jones.
