WEATHERFORD -- Marshal Olys Branum, 92, died Thursday, January 28, 2016.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Graveside: 2 p.m. Tuesday in DeLeon Cemetery, DeLeon
Visitation: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at White's Funeral Home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Marshal's memory to First Christian Church, 101 N. Houston, DeLeon, Texas 76444 or to a favorite charity.
Marshal was born in Dublin to Edna and Robert Branum, the youngest of nine children. He graduated from Dublin High School. Marshal served in the United States Navy in World War II aboard the U.S.S. Tennessee as a Gunner's Mate 3C.
After the war, Marshal married his high school love, Etta Price, on February 7, 1946. He worked as an engineer on the MKT Railroad for 38 years, both in DeLeon and then in Boonville, Mo. They returned to Texas when he retired.
Marshal enjoyed playing games. He loved to play Phase 10 and ChickenFoot a lot. He made beautiful wood furniture to share with family and friends. Marshal was also known for his great gardens.
He was a member of Grand Lodge of Texas. Marshal was a Master Mason of Armstrong #445 for over 50 years. He was also a member of the DeLeon City Council for several years.
His survivors include his daughter, Marsha and son-in-law David D'Avignon. He also had three grandchildren, Joey of Houston, Kim of Fort Worth, and Andie of Poolville. He had many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Poochie.
His wife, Etta Price Glazier Branum died in 1990. All six of his sisters and his two brothers have preceded him in death.
