Joyce Maxine Walker

BROCK -- Joyce Maxine Walker, 87, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016. Funeral Service: 3 p.m. Saturday at Brock Baptist Church, 2111 FM 1189, Brock. Interment: Brock Cemetery Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Joyce's memory to Brock Baptist Church Sports Center Fund or Brock Cemetery Association. Joyce was born October 7, 1928 in O'Donnell to parents, Cecil and Amanda Bell. She is a descendant of the Maddux, Jones & Bell families, all early settlers of the Brock Community. She graduated from Brock High School and later attended Weatherford College, having also played basketball at both schools. She married Willard L. Walker, June 2, 1946 and they were married for 61 years at the time of his death in 2007. Prior to Willard's death, they had lived in Brock since 1964. She worked for many years for Dairyman's Feed Store and the U.S. Postal Service. She was very active in her community as a member of Brock Baptist Church and volunteering at Brock Community Center, Brock Cemetery and the Brock Fire Department. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Willard L. Walker; son, Harold Don Walker; four brothers; and two sisters. Survivors: sons, Ronnie Walker and wife, Linda, of Weatherford, Ralph Walker and wife, Barbara, of Brock, and David Walker and wife, Sharon, of Trophy Club; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Gill and husband, Don, of Dennis; sister-in-law, Alena Bell of Brock; and many other loving family members, friends and church family.
