Howard Wayne Nichols, 79 left this physical world on July 18, 2016 at the home he and his wife Reba built and lived in since 1975.
SERIVCE: 1 PM July 23, 2016, Saturday, at the First Baptist Church of Springtown, 500 North Main Street, Springtown. The Interment will be at Rubottom Cemetery, Rubottom, Oklahoma. Visitation will be immediately prior to the funeral service beginning at noon.
Howard, known to his friends as Nick, was born January 12, 1937 in Rubottom, Oklahoma to William and Treva Nichols. He was the second child born to that union and he had three siblings, one older and two younger. In 1954 he married his one love, Reba Viola Davenport. He and Reba had three children: Pamela, Troy and Shirley.
Nick, with his partner John Farris, built a successful small chain of muffler shops known as the “Muffin Shops.” At one point there were shops in Ft. Worth, Wichita Falls, North Richland Hills, Austin, Weatherford, Dallas, and Lawton, Oklahoma. After their children were grown Nick and Reba brought three foreign exchange students into their home and their hearts. One “exchange daughter” Carin Lilja was with Nick and his two daughters on the day of his death.
Nick loved fishing, working on his property, and his family. Above all else he treasured his six beautiful grandchildren and one precious great-grandson.
He is survived by Pamela, Troy and Shirley, six grandchildren, one great-grandson, his younger brother Buford, beloved nieces and nephews, and a host of dear family and church friends.
