Terry Thomas

Terry Ann Thomas, 60, passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones, Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016. Service: 1 p.m. Saturday at La Junta Baptist Church, 5207 E. Hwy. 199, Springtown 76082. Interment: Alvord Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 401 N. Main, Springtown 76082. Terry was born in Bar Harbor, Maine, to Percy and Helen Nason on Oct. 31, 1955. During her childhood, she moved to many different places and ended up in Texas. She met the love of her life, Tommy Thomas, and they got married Sept. 4, 1970, when she was just 14 years old and he was just 19 years old. Three years later, they were blessed with their first child and then three and half years after that, they had their second child. They shared many happy memories together up until Tommy's passing in 2011. Terry remained devoted to Tommy and now they rejoice in Heaven together. Terry was a dedicated employee of Rolls Royce as an Inventory Controller supporting American Airlines. She felt very fortunate to work for Rolls Royce and she was very thankful for all of the love and support that her work family gave her. Terry was a woman who had a very strong faith and a deep love for the Lord that was apparent in all that she did. She was very involved with her church, La Junta Baptist Church. She loved her church family and was part of a group of women that often crafted. The ladies often referred to the crafting group as a "Crafting Ministry" and utilized it as a way to bless others. But Terry's light of her life was her family. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother to her daughter, son, #1 son-in-law, and #1 daughter-in-law, and cherished Grandma and Grandma Red to her grandchildren. She was a very caring and selfless person and never hesitated once to go out of her way to help someone. Her infectious laugh and smile that could light up a room will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Terry was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Thomas, Sr.; and her father, Percy Nason, 82, formerly of Providence, Rhode Island. Survivors: daughter, Cindy Proffitt and husband, Derrick; son, Tommy Thomas, Jr., and wife, Windy; grandchildren, Tommy "Trey" Thomas, III, 18, Wyatt K. Thomas, 13, and Hannah M. Proffitt, 8; mother, Helen Nelson, 90; siblings, Rosemary Naastad and husband, Jack, Frank Nason and wife, Joyce, Del Nason, and Greta Spencer and husband, Bill; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of church and work friends.
