Stewart R. Crabtree, 75, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016.
Friends and family are invited to attend a 3:00 pm visitation followed by a 4:00 pm memorial service at Whites Funeral Home Azle on Thursday, October 13.
Stewart was born February 15, 1941 in Lubbock, TX to Trueman and Lena Crabtree. He grew up in Azle and graduated from Azle High School in 1959. Soon after graduation from Baylor University, he obtained his CPA license and began his public accounting career with Weaver & Tidwell in Fort Worth, TX. A few years later he and other colleagues started their own public accounting firm, of which through several iterations and partner successions continues today under the ownership of his son. For over 50 years he practiced public accounting in Fort Worth and Azle and held several directorships and participated on many local boards such as the Azle High School FFA President, AISD School Board, Azle State Bank, and the Azle Library Board. He was also one the founding members of the hospital board which was instrumental in founding what is now Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba, gardening, and tending to his cattle on his farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Trueman and Lena Crabtree.
Survivors include wife, Katherine Crabtree; sons, Paul and Gregg Crabtree; grandchildren, Devin, Ashlyn, Rebecca, and Isabelle; great grandson, Waylin; brother, Richard Crabtree; sister, Martha Gutermuth; and extended family and friends.
