Janet Jane Backhaus

Janet Backhaus, 73, loving wife, mother, grandmother sister and friend passed away Friday, October 21, 2016. Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Azle. Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jan's memory to Jan Backhaus Heart of Gold Memorial Fund thru Pinnacle Bank in Azle. Jan was born in Eureka, SD. to Arthur and Hulda Roth Giedt of Ashley, ND. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Jan enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and hardanger needle work. She was a school teacher for many years in North Dakota (La Moure, Napoleon, Turtle Lake and Tioga), and retired from M.D.U. as secretary. Jan was a very special lady with a loving heart, who enjoyed traveling in their RV. She attended church at The First United Methodist Church of Azle and was a long time member and was in the Choir at the First Lutheran Church in Tioga, ND. Jan was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors: Husband, Herman Backhaus; daughter, JoDee Berg and husband, Justin; sister, Rose Thomas and significant other, Edward Jacobson; brothers, Douglas Giedt and wife, Jane and Dean Giedt and wife, Doris; grandsons, Jackson Lincoln and Pierce Berg; numerous nieces, nephews and loving family members.
