WEATHERFORD -- Alvah B. "Al" Clark, 77, loving husband, father, step-dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Aledo United Methodist Church, 100 Pecan St., Aledo.
Interment: Aledo Brown Cemetery, Aledo.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Al was born October 1, 1939 in Pontiac, Mich., son of Russell and Marie Smith Clark. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army. Al was a member of the Lion's Club and Aledo United Methodist Church for 30 years and was on various commitees, the administrative council and Methodist Men. He worked for Aero-Jet General for over 12 years in Calif. Al began his career with them in Industrial Security. He later became second in command to the Chief of Security at Motorola Semi Conductor in Phoenix and went on to become Interim Chief of Security for one year. It was during this time that Al met his wife Geneyne. Al, Geneyne, and daughter Melinda moved to Texas in 1987. Al drove a school bus for Aledo ISD while working for Willow Park Hardware and later Dement Hardware. From 1987 through 2005 Al worked full time for Aledo ISD in maintenance. He continued to drive a school bus until his failing health caused him to retire in 2012. Aledo ISD former students and faculty still refer to "Mr. Clark". His step-son, Darien DeRohwer, daughter, Melinda Clark and grandson, Jon DeRohwer, all attended Aledo ISD schools during his tenure.
Al was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Clark; father, Russell Clark; sister, Joyce Woodham; son, Rusty Clark; step-son, Joe DeRohwer; step-son, Jimmy DeRohwer; daughter-in-law, Kelly DeRohwer; and niece, Bonnie Tucker.
Survivors: Wife of 38 years, Georgia (Geneyne) Clark; daughters, Letha (Jim) Urban, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Melinda (Davion) McDonald, of Weatherford; Step-children, Jereyne (Dorain) Cronin, of Mesa, Ariz., Timothy (Pam) DeRohwer, of Chugiak, Alaska, Rainie DeRohwer of Aledo, Matt DeRohwer of Eagle River, Alaska., and Darien DeRohwer of Fairbanks, Alaska.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and church family.
