Bob Avery of Springtown, passed away peacefully surrounded in love by his family Monday, November 14, 2016 on his 77th birthday due to complications of pneumonia.
Bob was born in Van Alstyne, Texas on November 14, 1939 to Graydon and Bessie Avery and was the youngest of 6 children. Bob graduated from Van Alstyne High School before embarking on a career as a photography technician for the Soil Conservation Service. He married Margaret Huddleston on January 24, 1970 and had two sons together. After he retired he worked as a docent at the Ft. Worth Science and History Museum. In recent years he could be found with Margaret volunteering at First United Methodist Church of Springtown where he was an active member, working elections or at Springtown football games. He enjoyed discussing politics and sports with his sons, and adored his grandson. Bob will be remembered for his loving heart and calm demeanor.
Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Huddleston Avery; his son, Robert Avery and wife, Ashli of Dallas; Thomas Avery and wife, Lisseth of Ft. Worth, grandson, Aiden Avery; sister, Bettye Davis of Sherman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Graydon and Bessie Avery, and brothers Kenneth, Melvin, M.G., and Glen Avery.
A memorial will take place on Saturday, November 19 at First United Methodist Church in Springtown, with a visitation at 10 am and the service to follow at 11am. All are welcome to attend. Memorials can be donated to First United Methodist Church in Springtown’s snack pack ministry.
