WEATHERFORD -- John Brooks Woodfin, 84, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2016. Service: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at White's Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital or Teresa Clark Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund at Cook Children's Hospital. Brooks was born in Tahoka on June 15, 1932 to Frank J. and Bonnie Woodfin. He graduated from Albany High School in 1949, entered the United States Army in 1953, serving in the military police. He attended Ranger Jr. College in 1956 and transferred to U.T. Arlington in 1957. Brooks started working in the roofing business in 1959 and established Brooks Woodfin Roofing Company in 1977. In 1988, he was co-founder of B&B Construction with his son, Bruce. Brooks was also the co-founder and president of Fort Worth Roofing Association. He married Edith Faun Mitchell in 1952. Brooks was active in the Albany Masonic Lodge, Fort Worth Scottish Rite. He was also Moslah Shrine-Past President Golf Unit; Jester Court 32, Past President Fort Worth Exec. Association and a member of Ridgela Country Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith; sisters, Nora Hawkins, Eudora Anderson; and brother, B. F. Woodfin; and daughter, Teresa Clark. Survivors: wife, Georgeann Woodfin; son, Bruce Woodfin; daughters, Debra Woodfin and Cindy Prior; brothers, Frankie Woodfin and Paul Mac Woodfin; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
