Gloria Pearl "Pat" Torell

Gloria Pearl "Pat" Torell, 98, died Monday, January 9, 2017 at her home in Atoka, TN. Graveside Service: 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 16, 2017 at Hoggard-Reynolds Cemetery. Visitation: 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. at White's Azle Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ash Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 S. Stewart, Azle, TX. 76020. Pat was born September 1, 1918 in Poolville, Texas to Isaac Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Smith Roe. Her ancestors were one of the first settlers to arrive in 1855 when Azle was known only as the Ash Creek Settlement. She was the oldest member of Ash Creek Baptist Church and had been a member there for at least 73 years. She married Gerald Torell on December 21, 1964 and helped raise his three sons after raising two sons of her own. Pat followed Gerald to France and Germany in 1965 where he was stationed with the US Air Force. While overseas, they traveled in a VW Bug to many other countries, camping out in a small pup tent. After Gerald retired from the service, they enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their fifth wheel. Their favorite place was Red River, New Mexico. Pat was a member of the Parker Extension Education Association, Azle Historical Museum and the Honey Do Good Sam Travel Club. Pat loved her Lord, her family, friends, church, pets and the Dallas Cowboys. She never missed watching a game and cheered zealously for Emmitt Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings; husband, Gerald Torell in 2011; and son, Robert J. Stewart, in 2007. Survivors: sons, Thomas Eugene Stewart(Mitsuko)of Atoka, TN, Luke Torell (Inge) of Monticello, MN, Tom Torell of St. Peter, MN and David Torell (Robbie) of Anadarko, OK; 14 grandchildren;18 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
