Wayne Hart Darnell, 94, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford, 76086. Interment: 3:30 p.m. at Rafter 5 Wilson Family Cemetery in Brownwood. Visitation: 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at White's, Funeral Home. Wayne was born October 29, 1922 in Hollis, Oklahoma to John and Elbertie Darnell. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Mayrene Wynn, on January 31, 1941 and together they raised a family and had many happy years together. Wayne was a hard worker. He began his working career farming then later went on to retire from Southwestern Public Service Company in 1986 after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Wayne was a devout Christian and could quote Bible scripture endlessly. He was a lover of men's souls and his family. He also was interested in gardening and working on cars. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister, Survivors: wife of almost 76 years, Mayrene Darnell; sons, Richard Darnell and his wife, Linda, and Melvin Darnell and his wife, Cindy; daughters, Linda Moore and her husband, Charles, and Karen Redding and her husband, Ron; daughter-in-law, Jane Darnell; brother, Ray Darnell and his wife, Virgie; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
