Lajuana Mae “Toni” Himes, 86, born April 12, 1930, died Saturday, January 28, 2017.After a childhood spent in rural North Texas, Toni moved to Fort Worth and graduated from Polytechnic High School. Shortly before graduating, she met Luther R. “Bob” Himes, Jr. who became her husband and a major focus of her life for the next 60 years until he passed away in 2007.As well as being a dedicated and supportive wife and mother, Toni was a past-president of the Fort Worth Firefighters Ladies’ Auxiliary, was room-mother each year at D. McRae and Eastern Hills Elementary Schools, taught Sunday school at Poly Baptist Church, and worked retail and real estate to support family vacations each year.During Bob’s 27 year retirement from the Fort Worth Fire Department, Bob and Toni enjoyed time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They traveled by RV throughout the United States. They were members of Providence Reformed Episcopal Church in Weatherford.Toni is survived by her daughter, Cathey Rudolph and her husband, John, of Carrollton; sons, The Rev. Dr. Luther R. Himes III and his wife, Edwina, of Weatherford and Terry Himes and his wife, Sonia, of Paradise; granddaughters, Carrie Robertson MD, Sarah Cookman, and Trinity Himes-Trayler; grandsons, Benjamin Robertson, Luther Himes IV, and Nathan Himes; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Myra Walker of Kansas City, MO; and two nieces.Memorial service: 10 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at White's Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford, 76086.Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the National Audubon Society.
