Alma Owens, 81, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Service: 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 31, 2017 at The Church at Azle. Interment: Ash Creek Cemetery. Visitation: Noon to service time at the church. Alma was born September 26, 1935 in Durant, Okla. to Elmer Shelton and Allie Margaret Mitchell. Her first job was as a carhop at George’s Drive In, in Durant, Okla. Alma married Marion Delbert Owens November 18, 1961. They moved to Lake Worth where he was the Chief of Police and she was a dispatcher. Alma enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, whom she loved more than life itself. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Azle. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion Owens in 2011; seven brothers; and two sisters. Survivors: Daughter, Debby Wood and husband, Eddy; granddaughters, Britain Noah (Jack), Lexy Sizemore (Mason), Savannah Anderson (Gary) and Cheyene Wood; grandsons, Taylor Wood and Billy Trester (Christina); great-grandchildren, Piper, Sicily, Gunner and one on the way; sister, Nira Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
