Anita Jean Barrett

June 11, 1932 — May 5, 2022

Anita Jean Barrett, 89, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022. Graveside Service: 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells. Anita was born June 11, 1932 in Dallas, Texas to Alvin Irwin and Beetha Wright Irwin. She was a graduate of North Dallas High School. Anita attended and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. There, she would meet the love of her life, Harold Barrett. They were later married at the First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas on February 6, 1954 by W. A. Criswell. Anita taught school for 20 plus years. After retiring from teaching, she sold real estate in Weatherford, Texas. Anita was very active in the First Baptist Church in Weatherford. She sang in the choir, led Vacation Bible School, taught Sunday School and gave a children’s sermon before each Sunday service. She also volunteered at Meals on Wheels. Anita gladly accepted the role of being a coach’s wife. She moved multiple times and always made the most of every situation. Living in Abilene, Ranger, Big Lake, Albany, Levelland, Mt. Pleasant and Weatherford gave her a perspective about the teaching and coaching profession. Anita cherished those times and was the biggest cheerleader. She never missed her grandkids sporting events and they always knew she was there. Anita was known as” BeBe” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a woman of deep faith and loved to share her faith with others. Anita put God first and her family second. She loved to sew, work crossword puzzles, walk and exercise. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; her son, Dennis Patrick; and her three sisters and one brother. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy (Clint); son, Richard (Kim); three grandchildren, Bryan (Charla), Dylan (Micaela), and Logan (Elise); and her eight great-grandchildren include Blake, Brax, Nellie, Harper, Geneva, Preslee, Judson and Bristol. Anita was a blessing to many people and will be missed by all who knew her.
