Arlon Ford, 90, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025.
Visitation: 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2025, White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at First Baptist Church, 221 W. Church St., Weatherford.
Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford.
Arlon was born April 1, 1934 in Boyd, son of William Grady Ford and Imarie (Smith) Ford. Arlon proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Era. He met the love of his life, Reta Idell Wilson, at Decatur Baptist College and they were married on June 24, 1955 in Fort Worth. They would go on to spend nearly 67 happy years together until Reta’s passing in 2022.
Arlon and Reta would have three sons and one daughter. Growing up Arlon would share his love of the outdoors with his boys and taught each of them to fish and hunt.
He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of North Texas. He started his teaching career in Boyd, and would retire from Weatherford High School after teaching biology for 35 years.
Arlon had an inherent love for farming and animals. He loved to grow things, and he loved his chickens and goats. He enjoyed sharing that love with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was an avid reader with a flare for westerns. He also was a Native American enthusiast. He had a huge collection of arrowheads.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Reta Idell Ford; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Kromer; brother, Bobby Ford; sister, Nelda Rie McBride; and brother-in-law, Larry McBride.
Survivors include his children, Jed Ford (Jerri), Cylinda Heger (Dan), Darin Ford (Rene’), and Jeff Ford (Mitzi); grandchildren, Terri Ford, Lauren (Ford) Barnes, Harrison Heger, Hannah (Heger) Garner, Nolan Ford, Jace Ford, Jenna Ford, Jared Ford, and Jancey Ford; great-grandchildren, Harlow, Hutton, Hazel, Landry, Camryn, Brynn, Winslow, and Wells, with one more on the way; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family members and friends.
