Ben L. McCoy was born on August 13, 1972 in Burnet to Bill and Bonnie McCoy. He grew up on a farm near Bertram. Ben was a flight instructor at the Burnet Municipal Airport. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Central Texas University in Killeen.
In 1996, Ben was critically injured in a motorcycle accident. He sustained a major closed head injury, but through all those years he slowly recovered.
On the night of December 31, 2024, Ben went to sleep and woke up in heaven. His favorite scripture verse was John 3:16. He loved the verse so much that he would get his Bible daily while passing the book shelf, sit down and read it. Even though he had memory issues, he never forgot that verse. Ben was a testament of how we all should live, even under difficult circumstances. He will be loved and missed, but never forgotten. We will see him again in Heaven.
Ben was preceded in death by his dad, Billy McCoy; grandparents, W. B. and Edna McCoy, and J. M. and Violet McCoy.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa of Weatherford; his mom, Bonnie of Burnet; his sister, Amy Gonzalez and her husband, Mario, and niece, Abby Hope of McAllen.
