Billy Wayne Watson, Sr.

Billy Wayne Watson, Sr., 86, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019. Funeral Service:  10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford  76086. Interment:  Memory Gardens of the Valley, Weatherford. Visitation:  6 – 8 p.m. Monday at White’s Funeral Home, Weatherford. Billy enlisted in the Air Force in 1950, getting his first permanent base in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he met and married Jeanette Vincent.  He stayed in the Air Force for 20 years, moving his family to numerous bases throughout that time.  Billy served in SAC during the Cold War, during the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  He was present during atomic bomb testing in the South Pacific.  After getting out of the Air Force, Billy returned to Mineral Wells, eventually working with airplane instrumentation. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jeanette Watson; son, Vernon Watson; parents, Lillian and Clyde Watson; sister, Paula (Watson) Thompson; brother, Sheriff Larry Watson; and son-in-law, Billy Cogburn.  He is survived by his children, Jackie Mills (Dan), Donna Cogburn, Johnney Watson (Jody) and Billy Watson, Jr. (Jeanette); numerous grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
