Carl R. Childers

Carl R. Childers, 88, beloved husband, father, step-father and friend passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Funeral Service:  11 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2019 in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford  76086. Interment:  Long Creek Cemetery, Hood County. Visitation:  10 to 11 a.m. Monday prior to the service at White’s Funeral Home. Carl was born April 24, 1930 in Aledo, son of George R. and Nancy Cordie Young Childers.  He honorably and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years, achieving the rank of Staff Sgt.  Carl married Sadie Kathryn Lane Sanders on December 22, 1967 in Granbury and they spent many happy years together raising their children.  He attended Central Christian Church for many years, serving as a deacon and singing in the choir.  Carl was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nancy Childers; siblings, Eloise Childers, Robert Childers, Clayton Childers, and Augesta Cordell Tenant. Survivors:  Wife of 51 years, Kay Childers of Weatherford; sons, Gary Childers of Granbury, Brent Childers of Weatherford, Greg Childers of Farmers Branch, and Mark Childers of Weatherford; step-son, Michael Sanders of El Paso; step-daughter, Teresa Latham of Weatherford; and many other loving family members and friends.
