Carol Burkhalter, 74, of Springtown, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 29, 2020. Carol was born September 5, 1945 in Weatherford, Texas, the daughter of Connie Pruitt. Carol was a life-long resident of Parker County, and married Horace Burkhalter on December 31, 1961 in Granbury, Texas. Horace and Carol enjoyed 58 years of marriage together. Professionally, Carol served as a clerk at several cattle auction firms, an owner and operator of a local convenience store, a bank teller, and a teaching assistant at Springtown Middle School until her retirement. Personally and much more importantly, “Nannie” was a doting wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who greatly enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She was an excellent cook, and few ever turned down an invitation to a wonderful meal and engaging conversation with her. Carol was comfortable in any setting, but most comfortable serving others. She glorified God with her giftedness in this area more than any other, never seeking the spotlight or recognition but always happy to help others in any way. The Chamber of Commerce recognized her as Springtown's "Woman of the Year" in 2002. Even while battling cancer for almost three years, Carol displayed an unwavering faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and continued to be a living testament to His teachings. Throughout her entire life, Carol’s infectious smile, optimism, and encouraging words for others were consistent and inspiring. In her last days on earth, she was equally consistent and inspiring as she faced death with unwavering courage, grace, and confidence. She provided an incredible blueprint for her family to follow in life and even death. Survivors include Carol’s husband, Horace Burkhalter; son, Lynn Burkhalter and his wife Lisa; daughter, Teresa Kelley and her husband Mike; as well as seven grandchildren (Brandy and her husband, Cody, Pete, Ryan, Kyndall, Connor, Kelli, and Marissa) and four great-granddaughters (Sadie, Kennedy, Blake, and Teagan). Funeral Service: Visitation from 10 - 11 a.m. with funeral services immediately following on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Springtown, 500 North Main Street, Springtown. Interment: Central Cemetery, 4290 Old Agnes Road, Weatherford.
