Carolyn Virginia Manney, 76, passed away on Feb. 14, 2021 after a short illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at White’s Chapel of Memories under the direction of the White’s Funeral Home with Mike Latta officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will start Friday, Feb. 26, 2021. At a later time, there will be a private family burial in Marlow, OK. Carolyn Virginia Manney was born December 23, 1944, in Hobbs, NM to Martin and Murrell Cooper. She graduated from Hobbs High School May 1962 and received an associate’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM in June 1964. She married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Manney on August 28, 1964. She had lived all of her life in New Mexico until she and Bob married and his career with General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin had taken them to California and then later to Texas. Carolyn was a woman of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await her after her passing. She was a loving and supportive wife, and she loved to speak of her life of 44 years that she and Bob celebrated together. She also loved and prioritized her family by volunteering at her son’s and grandchildren’s elementary schools and financially supporting organizations that they were involved in during their high school years. Carolyn will be remembered and loved as a virtuous woman who excelled in passing on valuable life skills to her family. Carolyn is preceded in death by her father and mother, Martin and Murrell Cooper, husband Robert (Bob) Manney, her oldest sister Evelyn Alexander, brothers-in-law, Jim Thomas, and Clifton Bateman. Carolyn is survived by her son Shawn Manney and wife Crystal of Weatherford, TX; granddaughter Emily Manney of Weatherford, TX; grandson Austin Manney and wife Mariah of Goldsboro, NC; sister Martie Bateman of Hobbs, NM; sister-in-law Rose Bundick of Webster, TX; brother-in-law Norris Manney and wife Brenda of Hobbs, NM; and many nieces and nephews.
