Charles "Charlie" Otho Mathews

Weatherford - Charles "Charlie" Otho Mathews, 78, passed away after a long, hard fought battle with illness on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Community Hospice Hospital in Fort Worth.Memorial service: 1:00 p.m., Saturday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford, TX, 76086.Charlie was born January 20, 1939 in Tin Top, TX to the late Jack and Mildred Mathews. He was a lifelong brick mason for 58 years, and retired in March of 2016. He was an avid Texas Rangers baseball fan.Most of all, Charlie loved his family beyond measure and enjoyed their many gatherings. He was a man of integrity, honesty, and he was kind, always helping any that he could. He was truly a "one of a kind" good man. He will be missed by all.Survivors: Charlie is survived by his wife of 30 years, Gloria Mathews; his four children (born with late Glenda Jean Massey), Susan Williams and family, Charles "Chuck" Mathews and family, Christopher Mathews and family, and Laurie Mathews Griffin and family; two stepchildren, Jacob Figueroa and family, and Ruth Petersen; he was blessed with fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his beloved brother and sisters, Danny Mathews and family, Pat Ray and family, and Betty Henry and family; along with his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
