Christopher Frelick "Chris" Holden

AM1 (AW) Christopher Frelick Holden, retired, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Memorial Services in Weatherford and New Braunfels will be planned for a later date.

Chris was born in New Braunfels, Texas to Rose and Earle Holden on January 13, 1980. His vibrant spirit touched the lives of many before he left this world at the age of 44, leaving a void that cannot be filled.

After growing up in New Braunfels, Chris joined the United States Navy in 2001. He served until retirement and was honorably discharged on November 30, 2021. During his time in active duty, he received many decorations, medals, badges, citations, and campaign ribbons that were awarded throughout his service. Thank you, Chris, for your service and dedication to our country.

After joining the Navy, his 20-year career took him to the Afghanistan war and later around the world. Just before retiring, he met his love, Cassandra Brooks. They married in 2022 and settled in Weatherford, Texas where they began their life together. During and after his military service he earned a Master’s of Business Administration, and then became an Account Executive for the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

His happiest moments were spending time with his family. You could always find him at home working on a project, woodworking, and taking care of the animals. But Chris also loved to get away with his family, going camping, hiking, and exploring.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Rose Holden; his aunts, Paula Coker, and Victoria Drake; his uncle, Victor Hildebrand, Jr.; and his grandparents, Victor and Myrtle Hildebrand, Sr., and Tom and Virginia Holden.

Chris will be dearly missed by his wife, Dr. Cassandra Brooks Holden; his children, Emma, Jase, Rahvyn, and Shauna; his father, Earle C. Holden; his siblings, Robert Holden (Stacy), Virginia Holden, and Kristina Jan (Joey); his uncles, Greg Hildebrand (Katherine), and Thomas Hildebrand (Trisha); aunt, Virginia Pape (Jerry); and several nieces and nephews, Kasey, Katy, Shanna, Dakota, Dustin, Cheyenne, David, Marcos, James, Ali, and Sophie.
