Waymon was born May 13, 1943 in Brownwood, son of Pat Henry and Ethelene (Dunsworth) Moore. He graduated with a degree in Agriculture from Tarleton State University in 1964. Waymon was a certified teacher of the Dale Carnegie courses, and taught financial planning at the local community college. In addition, he was a long-time member, and past president of, the Angleton Rotary Club. Waymon was also a great supporter of Ducks Unlimited and worked for many years with Soil Conservation Services.
Waymon was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He also loved country music, especially the steel guitar, which he had learned to play as a child. This love would carry on through to adulthood, and would see him collect steel guitars in his later life. Waymon owned multiple steel guitars, including Sho-Bud guitars, one of which was his beloved “Blondie.”
He was a financial planner by trade, but a rancher at heart, having owned and managed herds of Beefmaster cattle. His love of animals was not unique to his cattle, he also bred and raised registered Border Collies. While he had many interests in life, his first love was his family. His daughters and grandchildren were the light of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Left to treasure his memory are his loving daughters, Tina Medeiros (John), DeAnna Quirl (Korby), and Rachel Bretthorst (John); grandchildren, Kyla Coke (Zach), Parker Quirl (Kate), Jacob Bretthorst, Hannah Bretthorst, and Trinity Bretthorst; great-grandchildren, Laila Coke, Mazen Coke, Korley Coke, Hudson Quirl, Adaline Quirl; one brother, Dale Moore (Bina); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
