Cyrus Addison Gibson passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on August 1, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells, 100 SW 4th Ave., Mineral Wells. Interment will be later that day at the Palo Pinto Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Palo Pinto. Cyrus was born on November 27, 1936 to the late Brantley H. and Esther Burton (McConnell) Eldridge. In 1941, Esther remarried Samuel Hilary Gibson. Sam adopted Cyrus in 1943 and became the only father he remembered. Cyrus married Barbara Arline Belding on September 13, 1958. They raised two children, Shawn and Charlotte. Cyrus and Barbara were married for 54 years until Barbara’s death on March 28, 2013. Cyrus worked as a Tech School instructor for the Air Force, a high school math teacher in Irving and Mineral Wells, a math teacher at Tarleton University, a rancher, a land developer, and entrepreneur. He was an ordained minister, was the music minister at First Baptist Church Palo Pinto, and the director for Possum Kingdom Resort Missions for decades. Cyrus and Barbara touched the lives of countless people as they attempted to show the love of Christ to those that he put in their path. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Hilary and Esther (McConnell) Gibson; birth father, Brantley H. Eldridge; and wife, Barbara Arline (Belding) Gibson. Survivors include his son, Shawn Keith Gibson and wife, Peggy; daughter, Charlotte Jean (Gibson) Reyna; grandchildren, Randy Reid, Hilary Ince, Taylor McCaig, Rose Reyna, Kaitlyn Reyna, Israel Gibson, and Chelsea Gibson; great-grandchildren, Penny McCaig, Addison Ince, and Cyrus McCaig.
