Daniel Ernest Chapman, age 84, of Azle passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023. Visitation 6 to 8 pm on Monday, January 1st at White’s Funeral Home, Azle, Texas with Rosary at 6:30 pm. Funeral at 11:30 am on Tuesday, January 2,2023 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Azle. Burial at 2 pm at Lynn Creek Cemetery, Jack County. Daniel was born on December 02, 1939, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, to Ernest F. and Beatrice (Dusseault). The second of 4 siblings, with an older brother, Robert, sister, Kathleen, brother, Paul. He graduated from Haverhill High School and Haverhill Trade School in 1957. After graduation, Daniel enlisted in the United States Air Force. His military career spanned 30 years in Medical Administration. After retirement he worked for the Harris Health organization. Upon leaving Harris, he joined the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department, working under Dee Anderson, and working for Chief Bob Knowles. During his time in the United States Air Force, Daniel met his future wife, Mary Jo Starr, with whom they had 2 children, Dana and Jeffrey. While serving with the Air Force he was stationed at Lajes Field, Azores; San Antonio, Texas; Maryland; Incirlik Turkey; Wichita Falls, Texas; Goldsboro, North Carolina; returning to San Antonio where he retired after 30 years of service as Chief Master Sergeant, working with the Surgeon General’s office. During his military career Daniel made and maintained many life-long friendships. Post-Military life brought he and Mary to Azle where they joined other family members. Dan and Mary became members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he was a member of the choir, and involved in many other activities. Daniel enjoyed his weekly rounds of golf across the Metroplex, with his regular golf buddies. He was an extremely generous and compassionate man, who never met a stranger, and made it a point to put a smile on everyone’s face. He was always in attendance at his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s school and extra-curricular activities. Dan also enjoyed researching recipes and cooking for his beloved wife and family members. The family would chuckle about being sure to return Dan’s food storage bowls, or they might not get a return dish! Dan and Mary also enjoyed touring the local area restaurants and sharing their favorite hotspots with all! They always looked forward to their Sunday lunches with Ermon and Sherry Kilgo. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Jo; daughter, Dana Montgomery (Troy), son, Jeffrey (Christie); 6 grandchildren, Crystal (Cory) Colley, Heather (Ryan) Collins, Jeffrey Chapman II, James Chapman, Nick Padgett, Sydney (Justin) Rutledge; 4 great granddaughters, Celsea & Caitlyn Colley, Haylee & Raelyn Collins; brothers, Robert of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts and Paul of Hudson, New Hampshire.
