Dannie’s celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at White’s Funeral Home in Azle. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, September 18 at 2 p.m. at Levelland Cemetery in Levelland, Texas. The family asks that you help continue Dannie’s tradition of service to others by making a memorial donation to Azle Christian Church or the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. Dannie was born July 31, 1939 on the family farm in Levelland, Texas. She attended school in Pettit and went on to graduate from McMurray College in 1961 with a degree in elementary education. It was here, as an officer of Alpha Pi Alpha, that her life long commitment to serving others was fostered. After college Dannie Jean served her country in various civil service jobs in several states and countries. In the early 1970’s she arrived in Azle and would love and shape that community for the next 50 years. Dannie was smart, colorful and had a heart for children. So it is fitting that she spent decades shaping the 4th grade students of Azle ISD. She was a premier educator who believed in good penmanship and good citizenship. She was respected and loved by both her students and her fellow educators. A natural teacher, Dannie taught something to everyone she met, usually by example. All cars and fingernails should be red. Family should be kept close. More bling is always better. Begin and end every conversation with a hug, or two. Always eat dessert. And most notably, anything worth saying is worth saying with your mouth and with your hands. Dannie believed in sharing her talents with the causes that she supported and if you were lucky enough to have known her, you were no doubt recruited to share your talents also. She brought numerous people to support her church, the Pastoral Council, the American Cancer Society and the Retired Teachers Association. In death, Dannie Jean is reunited with her soul mate and constant companion, husband, James Edward Davis Sr.; her parents, D.L. “Bussie” and Gracie McInturff Price; brother, Don Price, and children, Vickie Lynn Gulick, Bruce Daniel Gulick and Timothy Lee Davis. She is survived by her sons, James (Cathy) Davis Jr. and Daniel (Bonnie) Davis; daughter- in- law Rachel Davis; and sister-in-law, Ellen Price (Bill) Allen; Dannie was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. The love that she gave them will be their guide.
