Dick Reed, 77, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, at home. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Clark Gardens Botanical Park, 567 Maddux Road, Weatherford, Texas 76088. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.Dick Reed was born in Dublin, Texas on March 18, 1940. He was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Worth. Dick was a Mason for 56 years, a Kiwanian, a retired banker and very active with the local Aggie Muster. He served on the school board for nine years and was involved in several other civic organizations. Dick traveled extensively after retirement, but only to cities and countries where he could do volunteer work. He, his wife and grandchildren did preservation work in national forests in the U.S., did archeological digs in Italy, built Habitat Houses in South Africa, Mexico, Texas, Georgia and Louisiana. His goal in life was to “give back”. Dick was a graduate of Dublin High School, Sam Houston State, where he was a Sig Ep, and did graduate work at A&M. The family would like to thank Nurse Patricia Tucker from Solaris Hospice, and Dr. Ed Evans and his wife, Carolyn for their unending support throughout Dick's illness. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Chelsea Reed ; and brother, Lannon Reed . He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Juane; daughters, Marisa Stephens, (Trey) and Alexa Neumann, (John); son, Javier Crespo from Spain; grandchildren, Blake Norrid and Marlee Stephens; and cousins, Jaime Reed Renslow and Karen Kennedy.
