Donald was born May 5, 1962 in McKinney, son of Richard Henry and Dorothy Jean (Mayse) Mills. He graduated from Rockwall High School. Donald worked as a truck driver and construction equipment operator. He was a proud member of OOIDA.
Donald met and married the love of his life, Tamara Leigh Brown, and they spent many happy years together raising their family.
Donald was a very family-oriented guy, and he always told me (Tamara) that family was EVERYTHING. He loved to go fishing and really loved watching me and his grandchildren fish. Donald would belly laugh when I set the hook, because I would set the hook so hard it would practically launch into the next county. He loved watching the grandchildren’s volleyball competitions. He also like taking them fishing and would always focus on them and bait their hooks for them.
Donald loved both of his brothers so much and always wanted to see them succeed, and if he could help them achieve their goals, he would do it in a heart-beat. He was always humble and never complained.
One of my favorite things was that I was able to be there when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and then was baptized at New River Fellowship. Before he passed away, he looked me in the eye and said “thank you for introducing me to Jesus!” I told him “it wasn’t me it was the Holy Spirit!”
Donald was a force to be reckoned with. There is a giant hole in our hearts, but we celebrate that he is back home where he is meant to be.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Tamara L. Mills; children, Danielle Hirtle, Stephanie, Derrick, and Katrina; grandchildren, Michaela Boyles, and Harleigh Nini; brothers, Richard Mills and his wife, Mitzi, and Robyn Weston Mills and Jane; and a host of extended family members and friends.
