Douglas “Doug” Sims, 76, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 in Arlington. Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, Victory Baptist Church, 1311 East Bankhead Hwy., Weatherford, Texas 76086. In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to make donations, in Doug’s name, to Victory Baptist Academy. Doug was born December 5, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas, son of Thale Heebner and Pauline (Bush) Sims. He worked for over 30 years as an Assembler at Lockheed Martin. By Doug’s own admission, he “worked on the wings of F-16’s.” Doug was a born again Christian, and an active member of Victory Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed fishing. He had a great sense of humor and loved to share a joke with others. Doug enjoyed baseball, antique cars (especially mustangs), and western movies. While he had many interests, his first love was his family. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. Doug would marry his wife, Brenda, on February 18, 2005 and they would go on to spend 18 happy years together. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister. Survivors include his loving wife, Brenda; daughters, Shannon Daugherty (Rhett), and Robin Carter (Casey); step-son, Brian Cone (Jamie); step-daughter, Cherise Cone; grandchildren, Devan, Nolan, Brady, Abbey, Grace, Faith, Hudson, Savannah, Isaiah, Noah, Jase, Jude, Malikah; great-grandson, Zaiah; and a host of extended family members and friends.
